On Thursday 3 May, we were joined by intellectual property specialists across the globe, as we discussed how combing patent information with other business data helps you make better decisions.
Our host, Gary Ong, regional manager for the ASEAN region at Bureau van Dijk, was joined by Dexter Teo, executive director at IPOS International.
IPOS International is one of the selected group of IP offices across the globe to be appointed by the World Intellectual Patent Organization (WIPO) as an International Searching and Preliminary Examining Authority.
The topics covered in the webinar included:
- an overview of the innovation lifecycle
- understanding patent analytics and the technology landscape
- how organizations can combine patent and business information to strategize innovation and make data driven business decisions
The webinar rounded off with a Q&A session, with over 20 questions raised. There was a lot of interest in how valuations are done and how combining patent and business information can help form a tech road map.
One interesting point that was discussed was how an office like IPOS combines patent information with business information.
Dexter responded by saying that IPOS International are not staying still and, to help answer their clients’ problem statements, they try to incorporate more relevant information, such as non-patent literature and business information from external sources, for more robust analysis.
