International Track 200 uses data from Fame to rank the private British companies with the fastest-growing international sales

Data from Bureau van Dijk's Fame helped The Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 rank Britain’s mid-market private companies with the fastest-growing international sales, measured over their latest two years of available accounts.

The industry most represented by the list was consumer goods, followed by technology, media and telecoms, business services, and food and drink.

Typical characteristics of the companies included

  • a staff between 50-1,000
  • an increase of staff in the past 2 years of 25%
  • total sales of £154.4 million between 2017-2018
  • an average growth of international sales of 69% per year, for 2 years

“This year marks the 10th anniversary of The Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200, which ranks Britain’s mid-market private companies with the fastest-growing overseas sales," Hamish Stevenson, founder and chief executive of Fast Track, said.

"The 200 companies grew their exports by an average of 69% a year to a total of £14.1 billion, and they employ 140,000 staff, having added 38,000 jobs over the past two years. Some of the high-profile names on this year’s ranking include outdoor clothing retailer Mountain Warehouse, craft brewer BrewDog, and cosmetics brand Charlotte Tilbury Beauty. Past stars include Aston Martin, which floated last year and is valued at £2.6 billion, and drinks maker Fever-Tree, now worth £3.1 billion.”

  • iPulse, a hair removal technology company 

Research for the International Track 200 used data from Fame. Fame covers over 11 million companies within the UK and Ireland as well as information on individuals including directors, shareholders and department heads. Companies are searchable by criteria including size, industry and location.
